Dear Managing Brokers, Here is a thread I just started at Aspiring Agents. If a brand new agent approached you, having taken this course, would you considering offering him or her a slightly higher split? Why or why not? THANKS!!!!

I would offer them normal splits. Once they are proven, then I would increase the spilts accordingly. School and the real world are different.

No.
Experience, ambition, and real world real estate knowledge is the only reason why anyone should be offered a tad more than the rest. As realestatepromos put it," School and the real world are different"

I am afraid I have to concur with RealEstatePromos and Nosellercost.
But I would also add that having the knowledge and applying it in practice are completely different things. You can have all the knowledge in the world but if it's not put into practice for any reason (e.g., lack of desire or ambition; procrastination, to name but a few), then all your knowledge is worth zilch, zip, notta.
So, I would do this:
I would offer the same commission split that any rookie agent gets with an agreement to evaluate the performance for a higher split after a set number of months.
My two cents.

I think too many new agents focus on their split. We set our splits based on what we provide, such as marketing, training, coaching, day-to-day mentoring, etc. If they have additional training, then they should be more successful, but not at the expense of having a lower split up front.
I have an incremental increase in splits each year for a reward, but "low" splits aren't part of my value proposition.

I am not at a level to make that decision but... If I was, I would put the greatest value on their ability to produce. As we all know it is not tied to hard work as much as it is being connected in the community.

I would offer performance incentives. If they can bring in the sales then I would be willing to offer them more. Until they can begin performing at a high level though, no.

This Google Custom search may do a better job of searching the forums for some keywords than the old forum search does. The results do not include threads from the Asset Managers Forum however. To search that forum you will need to be actually in the Asset Managers Forum and you will need to use the old forum search below.
