I agree. Find out what the phrase (really) means.
I haven't come across it in my eighteen years in this business (although I'm talking Canada and perhaps it's one of the "special differences" that exist in the US). However, all my instincts tell me to "make haste slowly." In general, the lack of a warranty suggests that something is likely to break down and you'll have no redress available.
Not quite the same as buying something "As Is," but it could be too close to this for comfort.
