Hi guys. I really need some advice here. There's an agent in my city who seems to have every other listing I see. I take my state test on thursday and decided to contact this agent and ask if he needed a buyer's rep. Well, he emailed me the same day and told me to meet him at his office on monday!

I really am excited about this because this man is definately in the group of agents doing 80% of the business here and what I can learn from him might be priceless. Plus, the fact that he wants me to meet with him means he is probably looking for someone. My question to you all is this: what can I do to increase my chances of him offering me a spot on his team? What do you think he will ask me? Is it even a good idea for me to do this?

Thanks in advance,

Mike

I say go for it. Just be yourself, be calm but confident and let him know that youre about pleasing the customer and going above and beyond the call of duty, if need be, especially since you'll be new. I'm new and thats what I tell people when my experience comes up. "Hey that just means I have something to prove, and I'm gonna work my butt off to build my business since I dont have much right now"
And don't sound or act too nervous. Its a people business so if youre too shy with this guy it will tell him that youre a bit shy. Not that shy people can't succeed. But you have to be able to effectively communicate and do with customers exactly what you and the agent will be doing. Relax and best wishes! Go for it!

Does he have a website? I would love to check it/him out! PM me if you dont want to disclose it on the forum.

Okay. I went to the meeting today. As it turns out, this guy owns two Remax offices but hired other people to run them so he can concentrate on real estate. He did 300+ transactions last year and is the top producer in the state! He showed me his marketing and lead capture systems and they are by far the best I've ever seen. I talked to one of his buyer's reps (he has ten)and he told me he made six figures last year and another member of the team made 70 grand. This guy gets leads up the yin yang, but he told me up front that I wouldn't get the good leads until he sees how hard I'm willing to work. He wants me to work the expireds, FSBO's, my SOI or course and something else I forgot.

A few people have told me that I shouldn't join a team, that I should build my own business. But I was thinking, if an office offered me a 50/50 split, paid for everything except my business cards and car magnets, matched me with a mentor who was the top producing agent in the city and guaranteed leads for me, not to mention that I'd be working for the top office with the most name recognition would I go for it? Hell yeah! Especially since I'm new to real estate and this town.

Please, if any of you think maybe this guy is just a good salesman and has got me all riled up, do chime in.

I say go for it. You have nothing to lose and everything to gain. It's not like you have to work for him forever right?
