Not sure if this is the right forum to post this in. If not, please show me where this post should go.

Anyway, I used to work for a loan officer who let me work his internet leads for half the deal. We closed 4-5 loans and I made some money with it. But at the time I had my own full-time business that I was running, which was in a growth phase at the time and I couldn't call people for refi's in the evenings anymore. Long story short, I'm looking for a similar scenario but I'd like to work at home. I'm having trouble finding a good place to rest my hat because everyone seems to either want to charge me my left arm for leads, or have me join their MLM downline. I can work for straight commission, I'm used to working for no paycheck. I've been self-employed for 5 years and I'd like to keep it that way.

Does anyone know of a brokerage that I can possibly work for that won't rip me off? I don't need a lot of retraining, just tell me where to send the appraisals. I live in PA if that matters.

Thanks for the help.

There are a lot of net branches out there if that's what you want. States are cracking down on them though, so keep that in mind. Back office support seems to lack with them, and payroll can be a total suckfest.
You may want to interview with some local shops to work under their license. We have 2 LOs where I work that work from home. They get a good split, the comfort of knowing who the owner is, where to get their paycheck, etc.

Thanks for the tip. I have been talking to a couple of these net branches about work and it's looking good so far. But the payroll thing that you mentioned has me concerned because I'd thought about that before I started looking.

There are local places that I could work but I was under the impression that you have to be working there for a while before they'll let you work from home. Is that typically the case?

Good question. I think lead shops have more of an issue with working from home versus referral shops. If you are self-sufficient, then you should be an asset to a company, not a burden. I can understand if they have to supply you with leads, pay for credit pulls, etc. why they would want you to stay in office. They want to make sure you're not running their leads through another company(like a net branch).

If you provide your own loans and office supplies who wouldn't want you? If your door locks and your files are safe I think you're fine. The office should check your closed files for compliance, but that's a good thing.

At our company, the LOs that work from home pay for everything out of their pocket. Business cards, credit pulls, running DO, everything. Their split more than makes up for it though, hence why they work from home.
