The Bureau of Labor Statistics released today preliminary employment data for February which spell good news for the economy. In particular, BLS reports that in 319 metropolitan areas, out of about 367 on which it reports data, employment registered increases compared to February of 2006. Gulfport-Biloxi, Miss. registered the largest year-over-year percentage increase in employment (+14.5 percent).
