I am going to be changing web hosting companies. I was planning to use 1and1.com because of positive comments that I have read on this site. However, when I do a google search for 1and1 reviews I find that there are lots of negative reviews.

Has anyone else switched to 1and1 because of the postings on this board, and if so are you happy with them?

i used them for a while and didnt have any problems, but i also didnt put any sites up just had domains

I use 1 and 1 and find them really good. Uptime is excellent and so is the price. I think a lot of the problem is that htey used to offer free hosting and people feel cheated when they have to pay for something that was previously free. 9.95 a month is not much to pay though.

what is wrong with godaddy hosting for $80/yr?

1and1 has absolutley horrible reviews on many forums. There a sister company of major auction website and their customer service is near non existent. I have used regastar.com for 3 of my websites and never had any downtime and their customer service is top notch.

That's complete BS about customer service. I've been with 1and1 for several years. I have 11 domains and just had to call them last week (Friday) about a problem with one of them. I was on hold less than 2 minutes, the CS person spoke understandable English and resolved my problem within 2-3 minutes. They then followed up with an e-mail recap of the solution and asked that I complete a survey on how their service was. I've never had a problem with them in any way. In the 5-6 times I've called for support, it was great.

Whoever posted the negativity towards 1and1 obviously is a shill for another company. You want to talk about the worst... IMO.. try Network Solutions! I was with them since 1997 & never had a positive experience. Of course they were just about the only game back in the 90's..

All anyone needs to do is google for (name of host) sucks & you'll find plenty of links. That's true for most anything.

All I can do is relay MY experience with 1and1 & it's been top notch! Please post YOUR personal experience with this company, not links to other people's experiences. It appears that you don't personally have any business relationships with 1and1, therefore all you are posting is 2nd & 3rd hand information.

I have had only one bad "personal" experience with them myself. One and done for me. Along with that, I know over 200 people "personally" who have also had bad experiences with them. 1and1 is famous only because of their bad rep. If your happy with them then by all means continue to use them. I only chimed in to share what I've learned and know about their services.

No, I do not work for them but I've used several different hosts over the 10+ years I've had web sites and have an understanding that not every company can be perfect. They will all have critics as well as those who praise them. As I stated above, you can find critics for just about any company out there by performing a Google search with the company name + the word "sucks". It's not unique to 1and1!

As for you knowing 200 people "personally" who have had bad experiences with them... how did you come to know over 200 people "personally" that all share this one company in common? In addition they ALL had bad experiences with them?

I would consider knowing 200+ people "personally" as a large SOI. If it is based on people who focus on negative experiences with web hosting companies, how's the real estate business?

I'm not taking any of this too seriously, let alone personally. I just don't feel like blanket statements and posible embelishments are vaild in providing a true picture of a company and the service that they provide.

Bottom line.. every company has good & bad reviews.
