I'm going to get high speed internet. Is there a company that provides wired internet and wireless for the road? I’d also like to get email on my phone. Is that only possible through a cell phone co.? I’m trying to avoid having 2 ISP’s.

Once you figure that out ... let me know. I was looking into Verizon wireless card for the laptop ... but there would be a cost to hook up the phone too. You'd probably still have one for the home computer/network too.

The cable guys are working their end for the total home run, enjoying the current triple play of now. According to some reports I have gleaned from unstrung...the power companies are also broadening their efforts of wireless high speed data access and voice using the grid spanning the continental us. They have been using it for themselves to monitor and send information on maintaining the grid but the condition of the grid at high consumption makes this even more risky.

Why not look at something like the Sprint EVDO Service? It would require the purchase of a Sprint Phone (PDA) with EVDO Access and also a PCMCIA Datacard for your laptop or desktop (with a PCMCIA slot adapter) and then you could use the EVDO while Mobile and also back at the office. In fact, you should be able to create a bridge from the EVDO phone to your PC which would negate the need of the PC Datacard.
