I have heard of a lot of agents using HouseValues.com, but to be honest with you, I have heard mixed stories - some love it, some hate it.
I had a realtor client that used HouseHunt.com to generate leads, and it was horrible. I hated it, and so did he. The leads he got were from people that weren’t really that serious, they were just looking around. They were 12 months or more away from purchasing. The worst part was he was locked into a 12 month contract. (I am a real estate virtual assistant by the way) Be very careful with the year long contracts. There is a reason they want you to sign up for that long. I think that is how they make their money. I worked with him during the last 6 months of his contract, and I didn't see one lead work out.
I also have an agent that a use EAgent.com and it synchronizes with TopProducer.com She seems to have pretty good success with it. I do CMA’s for another agent that uses Eagent. He just started using it, and he gets about 10 requests for CMA’s a month, but we don’t know how well they are going to pan out yet. Of course it does matter what area you are in. It says that you are in Atlanta. I haven’t worked with an agent from Atlanta, but it seems like you should get a decent amount of leads from a lead generation site.
Sorry, I haven’t given you very many “pros” but I am just sharing what I have seen in my experience. The best advice I can offer you is: If you can help it, really try not to get locked into a 12 month contract with one of these companies. When they say that you can’t break it without penalty, they mean it. It is impossible to get out of. Try to start out with one that has a shorter contract term to start out with.
Realtor.com is a partner with eNeighborhoods.com. They have a package where you can get a start up kit and 60 days of membership for $99.00. I think after 60 days you can just stop everything if you don’t like it. Eneighborhoods has a lead generation system in it, and I have heard good things about it here is the link from realtor.com
http://www.eneighborhoods.com/2007Success/index.asp (I don’t get any type of reward for this; I just like helping realtors get quality products. It burns me up to see agents taken advantage of, so I try to steer them away from ones I know have been bad.)
Realtor.com has also teamed up with Lowe’s to create a free marketing program for realtors. I just found out about this recently. Here is the link for that:
http://www.realtor.org/realtor_benefits/benefits_partners/lowe_s.htmlI hope that some of this helps. Lead generation systems can be tricky. Like I said, just try to steer clear of the super long contracts.
