I have a question some of you brokers may know the answer too

I am a realtor, can I legally also become a business broker, and can I be a business broker without owing my present broker any commission fees? for those of you who don't know what a business broker is, it would be like selling a franchise or business, minus the land or property, i say if I am not selling real property i am not working in a real estate capacity, therefore don't owe the real estate broker any commission. what is your take on this my broker says I would still owe him commisions , I don't see anything pertaining to that in real estate law, i understand bpo's because they are on the property and you have to be a realtor to perform them, however, the business broker you don't have to be a realtor to be a business broker what is your input all brokers and realtors or anyone that may be a business broker

The answer to your question is maybe! Does your state require business brokers to be licensed? If yes and you pass the test and become licensed then there should be no reason you cannot do both.

yes there is a license required for it, separate from a real estate license, so how the heck would i owe the broker if its a separate business and i am not selling real property
