But, my basis point is that if you were to sum up the revenue a high producer generates for the brokerage and compare that to the expenses incurred, the net difference is rather small.
I wouldn't have believed this a year ago, but one of the huge top producers (but very high maintenace and demanding) in our company left last year. There was some concern as to the loss of revenue, but it didn't happen. Our expenses dropped drastically, and the business as a whole, plus all the agents, made more money.

In answer to your original question, I have fired two agent in the past two years. It was two of the hardest things I have ever done. But, I think if you have to ask yourself if you want this agent representing your company than the answer is most likely "no".

I am not THE broker, but I'm the office manager and getting ready to become the designated broker. That said, Yeah, I've already had to fire one agent. We had some concern about hinto start with, as he'd been with a few other companies, but we also know those companies don't have very good leadership... So we "hired" him. From the beginning, it was bad. After 6 months, he had only been in the office about 6 times, wasn't responding to calls or emails, did nothing to follow up on a few leads that I provided to him (thereby losing us the transactions), and all he did while here was complain about being broke. So we sent his license back, informed him (via email, letter and phone message), and never even got a response from that. And now we hear he's griping about nobody giving him a chance...

I am an agent that had a big problem why should I take the responsibility for what everyone else does during my floor time?
Before you fire someone get all the facts. Don't believe the other agents because there is a dog eat dog mentality there. Since this incident I left that office. I loved working for her and really didn't want to leave but had to because she embarrassed me and didn't feel I needed the abuse and negative publicity on myself as an agent. I am sure her long time agents are happy because I am gone, it is just too bad she trusted them because I was doing so well and of course she would have profited big time on that. Now I am studying to take my brokers exam and take what I have learned from my past brokers as to what not to do.

Yes and no, to your comment, should be people be trained, ofcourse. But the agent should do a little homework on who it is they are going to work for. I do not think a broker has a moral obligation to provide training, I think they have a moral obligation to be honest about the training they provide, or lack there of. In otherwords, do not recruit people under a false pretense
