After much calling around, I ended up with Geo. F Brown & Sons, Inc. out of Chicago. Website is www.gfbgroup.com They were super easy to deal with. I just filled out a form and faxed it to them. I probably had the insurance within a week.

Mikhael said: "Being new venture helps to get lower rate with the same experience. If you move from another E&O insurer to the new one, that new company will pay for the claims arising from your past. But they did not collect premium in the past, so, they have to charge more."
I am getting quotes on E&O as we speak and was told that any claims arising form past transactions would be covered by the insurer of record at the time of the transaction.

I am getting quotes on E&O as we speak and was told that any claims arising form past transactions would be covered by the insurer of record at the time of the transaction. There are two types of insurance policies: 1. Claims Made 2. Occurance E&O policies are usually claims made, which means the claim will be paid by the insurance company covering you at the time of the claim, not the time when transaction/occurance (error) happend. So, in your case, just ask those who give you the quote if it is a claims made or occurance policy. What you just described is how Occurance policy works. Best of luck!!!!!

We received bids from 4 providers and ended up with Pearl/XL Insurance. They were 35-45% lower than all the other quotes for basically the same type of coverage.
I am happily surprised!

Can a Realtor purchase E&O on their own and not use the same company as their broker, or would that be more expensive than paying their brokerage and being covered that way? Thanks.

I am posting this here simply because it should live where the discussion of E & O Insurance is happening. It was a solicitation, but it is still a lead on E&O Insurance.

I'll add to the post. I am in California and use CRES insurance (my policy is underwritten by Protaerian). They are the BEST! Soooooooooooo friendly - so easy, I really enjoy speaking with them. I've always been a fan of their home warranties and really am pleased with them in regards to their E&O insurance. http://www.cresinsurance.com

This Google Custom search may do a better job of searching the forums for some keywords than the old forum search does. The results do not include threads from the Asset Managers Forum however. To search that forum you will need to be actually in the Asset Managers Forum and you will need to use the old forum search below.
