I am new agent and would like to know how many of you are incorporated. I have an s-corp established w/my DH but my broker told me I can't use the same one. As a realtor I have heard you need to use your name followed by P.A. My accountant believes it's much better for tax purposes to be incorporated. I was thinking of doing it & opening up a business credit card & a business checking account to keep business seperate from personal.

Hello,
Me and my husband are incoporated. My broker writes the commission check to my corp.

We do have business checking account and credit. Buy quicken or some software to manage. It does involve till more work..like filling taxes but at the end its worth with the savings.

I am very interested to see the responses to this. I am licensed in NJ, and have been told that (in NJ at least) the broker cannot pay the agent's corporation, because the corporation is not licensed.

I think Ohio just changed it's law a couple years ago to allow commission checks to be paid to a corporation. I'm not incorporated, but there are plenty of agents that are.

This Google Custom search may do a better job of searching the forums for some keywords than the old forum search does. The results do not include threads from the Asset Managers Forum however. To search that forum you will need to be actually in the Asset Managers Forum and you will need to use the old forum search below.
