I have it, not the cheapest of the online fax services. I rely on it quite a lot, it's become essential for my biz.

www.faxprices.com does some comparing, I think there are similar sites that compare/contrast the various online fax services.

It's great to be mobile and to get clean copies via my inbox.

That is the issue I have. I am on the road all time and have no access to my incoming fax until I am back in the office.

If you have a computer at home or at work that you can leave on all the time, you can easily install software that will receive and forward faxes as a PDF to any email account or make them available via the net.

I prefer to keep direct control of these types of things, since they are often so crucial to ongoing business.

Btw the only real issue I've had w/efax is that if the sender is using an older slow machine, it may time out and not come thru.

And again they are definitely not the cheapest, they just raised prices in fact. But I don't want to change fax #'s at this point.

Bettina, I have my e-fax through accessline.com- the same company I told you about that handles our phone routing. I don't remember exactly what I pay-- but I think it's only $5-$10 per month.

The concept is great because the fax comes to your email wherever you are.

I used eFax for years until they went up to about 20 bucks a month.

I switched to MyFax for $10.00 that will cover all the faxes I need to send & receive.

It's worked great for the past year, I recommend My Fax

Online faxing is great. I've been using DataonCall.com, but will check out other services.

Efax is great no more running to the office to pick up a faxes, mine goes right to my email. When checking out the different services you may want to see if they have unlimited faxes. The service we chose allows for 200 pages a month, and after that its a per page charge. It doesn't take long to use up the 200 pages, just fax a contract and addendum a few times and your over limit. It can be pretty costly. We are looking into something new with unlimited faxes.

I use FaxSTF on a mac - I have a mac server running in my office.

However, you don't need to even use any special software on a mac. The system software has all the tools you need to get faxes and send them automatically as PDFs to any email you select.

For the windows side, there are actually a variety of choices. The same company that makes faxstf for the mac also makes windows software. Find their stuff at:

http://www.smithmicro.com/default.tpl

Once I open my office, I plan on running a lot of different services off of mac mini computers. They are relatively cheap ($600) and I can have them be web based workstations, control in-office and window advertising and be Fax and file servers.

The way I have usually had it setup is that I have a mac server that is always on working as my fax machine. When a fax is received, it forwards a PDF of it to my email address, it also can use caller ID and/or character recognition to route the fax other emails or to be backed up in a specific place. This lets me keep a great paper trail of everything that gets faxed to me or from me. Since this server is on the net, I can send a fax from that machine from anywhere on the internet.

Here is a link to the Mac Mini so you can see how small it is.
http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APPLE/WebObjects/AppleStore.woa/wa/RSLID?mco=B3C47B0&nclm=Macmini

If you were to buy a good Fax machine, with all the bells and whistles, you would pay about the same for it as you would a mac mini with the ability to have more options. Plus, you never have to pay some monthly efax fee.

I love e-fax. I could not imagine working without it. Top Reason: Ability to foward entire accepted purchase agreement with one click to buyer's lender from email.

Wow...OLD SCHOOL mac user in the house! Ha. Did FaxSTF ever work? I guess it did for at least one user.
