What do other people pass out as a closing gift. I try to get a feel for my buyers and then at closing give them a gift I think they will enjoy and remember me by. Well to be honest I have had my girlfriend pick out the gift. I have given Lagre custom wall clocks wind chimes, candles gift cards to different places such as Lowes, Wal-Mart, Home Depot, TGI Fridays places like that. I was just wondering what other Agents do. I would like some new ideas that will let them remember me. Cost is not really an object, but I like to keep it real. I'm not spending $500 on a person who bought a $40K house..... Thanks for the ideas in advance...

Hi - I don't know what area of Ohio you're in, but there's a well-known artist in the Toledo area, George Carruth. He designs original art and then reproduces it for garden and home. Our Realtor gave us a piece when we bought our home, and another five years later when we sold, and we still have them. They're unique and affordable, and people just seem to love them. Here's the website: https://www.carruthstudio.com/catalog/catalog.asp Just a thought. Ruth

I had some friends who did in-home catering, so I gave gift certificates from them. The cool part was that I didn't have to pay for the certificates until/unless my client actually used the gift.
I think closing gifts are over-rated though, especially at the closing table - the buyer or seller has SO MUCH going on right then that your fabulous gift will get overlooked. Think about bringing them something a few weeks after closing, which gives you a good excuse to drop in.

Thanks Ruth. I'll look into that. I don't think a closing gift is over-rated. I don't give it to them at the closing table I drop by a few weeks later to check up on them and see how things are going and take the gift then.. However I have never given a gift to a seller. unless they turn into a buyer. Should I be giving a gift to seller's?? Do other agents??

For buyers: One of my favorite gifts is to take a good photo...have it blown up & graphically altered at the local photo studio (looks kind of like a water color), matte it, and frame it... The card on the matte will read: The Smith Family Home given by Jane Doe, Realtor "Name of Brokerage" I've never had anyone not love it...so, it hangs on their wall, is appreciated by friends, family, and guests alike...AND your name is on there for all to see...

I usually give clients a $100.00 gift certificate to a restaurant that is one of the nicest in the area--keeps my clost down by being one of the owners of it:)

Pampered Chef gift baskets. There are PC consultants all over that would gladly come up with a variety of different options - basket for the baker, basket for the griller, basket for the Julia Child wanna-be. PC products are really great quality and very multi-use. I love them.

If a buyer is moving into a bigger home that's going to look empty for a while I buy them the biggest, nicest ficus tree I can find. For sellers I just send them a thank you/congratulations on selling your home card with a gift certificate... or sometimes take them out to a nice dinner.

This Google Custom search may do a better job of searching the forums for some keywords than the old forum search does. The results do not include threads from the Asset Managers Forum however. To search that forum you will need to be actually in the Asset Managers Forum and you will need to use the old forum search below.
