Well I got to snivel a little bit. I was going to wait and finish it up to get the full 4 year license but now I think will just shell out the extra 25 bucks and get the 1.5 year license first. Not that 2 big text books are a lot but I got a full time day job and trying to learn a software package. Just to let everyone in California know after the major state exam you got to take 2 more courses. I hope this helps anyone who wants buys the full package and realize it takes a bit more time than expected.

chazlac, keep in mind that there constant rumours about changes in real estate licenses in California. It may or may not affect people that have conditional licenses.

Maybe what I'm trying to say is unclear. But it applies to everyone.

Yeah... however, being able to do most of these courses online makes the whole process relatively painless.

I did mine with allied schools and was really happy with how easy it was to get it done during "down" time (IE: Whenever the hell I wanted).

It won't be too long before I have to do the renewal classes for my brokes and I plan to do them all that way.

R

PS: Contact me directly if you want some thoughts on how to minimize the effort in these classes.

Well I finally got through the first class. I just read the book page by page and got lazy doing the practice test. However I passed.

I have one more to go on financing. I got to get this outta here before the deadline!

Actually, they're not rumors, they take effect later this year. I'm no legal expert, but here's my understanding of it.

CA requires 3 courses for you to have an RE Sales Agent license. BUT, currently, to sit for the state exam, you only need to be enrolled in "Real Estate Principles" course. Pass the state exam and submit proof of completion of the first course and you get a conditional license that's valid for 18 months.

At that point, you have 18 months to complete two more courses, "Real Esate Practice" and once elective. The laws will change in that in order to sit for the exam, you have to show proof of completion of all 3 courses.

In other words, the requirements to even get into the testing room will triple and the conditional licenses will be eliminated. My understanding is that they are doing this because too many folks were getting the conditional licenses and not finishing the 18-month requirements, which creates a lot of paperwork for the DRE.

When does this take effect, what date?
