Hello -
I am a newbie. I am having a real struggle with selecting who to work for/with. I am an ex- Pastor/age 47 and am just starting out in RE. It seems to have a "name brand" or heavy hitter that you also have to pay out the #%!**. I understand the value of training and expect that a reputable and recognizable company could be an advantage. Still I don't have any goals of making 200k per year. I just want to keep the lights on and create a decent living for my family. Therefore giving half my commisions away after already going into debt with startup and marketing costs could prove somewhat difficult to get off the ground for me having no income or savings to speak of right now. If I started with a company like "Executive Real Estate" (http://exre.com/) in my area who only charges $200-$300 PER MONTH flat fee, Am I "shooting myself in the foot" and sabatoging myself? Will few buyers or sellers want to work with an somewhat unknown Company? How important in your experience is that to people these days. I do have a history of serving this community for 20 yrs which should work to my advantage. I do plan to put money into marketing -perhaps $500 per month as long as I can utilize my credit to do so. Any counsel from nice or rude people is encouraged. Thanks HUGE!
