I got my Real Estate license last year and right away I put it on ice (inactive status). I am about ready to activate it...

Now, I work in a sales job (non-real estate related) where I prospect, present, and close. I have done this job for about ten years( selling for various companies) I consider myself a salesperson. I understand the sales process.

Now, as I get ready to activate my RE license, differant brokers are trying to get me to come sell for them.

I am seriously considering going with a broker that offers a very good commission. Alot of brokers are telling me not to do it, because the "training" isn't very good. But with my sales experiance, do I really need alot of training?

Training on the best ways to prospect? Maybe a little.
Training on how to do everything else that is required? Yes.
Find out what the broker with the higher commission offers in the way of training. Do not go by word of mouth, interview several Brokerages.

Can you be a little more specific?

(btw, I prospect, present, and close everyday at my current job. It's a straight commission job, so I'm used to having to close sales in order to eat and support my family. Oh, and thank-you for the quick reply \:\) )

I think he is referring to all of the steps one must take from writing an offer, to negotiating and finally to executing the contract. There is a lot of specific information you need to know and while a lot of that really isn't learned until you actually do it, it is very helpful to have some training to give you an overview of a typical transaction.

Yup, what Seattlegal said.
Still, my advice stands, interview several Brokerages, and go with the one that offers the best training and split (and cap).
