I am glad to have found this site!

I had someone call about property in my area and and after we spoke for a while she told me that she had her license, so I asked her if she would be representing herself and she replied "yes" she would, but with her Hawaii Real Estate license" ? I replyed "interesting I had no Idea that Real Estate agents could do this in other states, she went on to tell me that she had just purchased property with her Hawaii license. Now how is that possible I thought, Is there a National license that agent could aquire?, I asked my broker and he said No! Or perhaps I was talking to a crazy person?
I would appreciate any kind of input

You don't need a real estate license to represent yourself in a transaction.

If you wish to represent someone else, then you much be licensed.

Correct, for self representation you do not need a license. The agent was probably talking about buying property for themselves.

There is no national real estate license either. If you've been in the business for 3 years, you should know this. Every state has their own license and their own laws.

I thought I did know, but I wanted to be certain and that is why I wanted to join this forum, so that I could ask questions and learn from the "professional experts", although I have only been in business for only 3 years I know that knowledge is key, so I asked questions to gain knowledge and I make certain that I am certain before I answer my clients. What I did learn is that never to answer a question with a negitive reply.
