My husband works for a custom home builder, and we're wondering if theres a way for us to get each other work....

is it ok for me to refer people who need work done on their house to my husband who does that sort of thing?

is it OK for my husband to ride along with me when I show a house at night for safety purposes?

is it OK for him to give his opinion of a house to a buyer that I'm representing?

is it OK for my husband to refer people to me from his jobsites? or would that be up to his company?

His Co has 2 RE agents that work for them, but he has told me that, since he's on the jobsite, he sees and talks to the drive by potential buyers, and at least once, he was actually trying to bring the buyers to the agent, who was a few hundred feet away in front of another house, and he pointed to the agent, and began walking the buyers towards the agent, but she looked at him, stuffed flyers into the box and the jumped in her car and LEFT! can you believe that? this was a 1.5 million dollar house for petes sake!

what can I do to get his company to list with me, instead of letting a lazy agent like that hurt their sales? or are those type of agents under contract and the builder cant list with anyone else? how does the agent/builder relationship work? and how do I get a listing from them?

yes if you disclose he is your husband and if he is competent to do the work you are recommending him for

maybe yes maybe no. Depends on the context and the opinion. You'd have to disclose he is your husband and his opinion should not be in lieu of getting the home properly inspected for a buyer.

might get him fired

yes the builder’s rules and policies should determine what your husband does or does not do in this regard; the builder probably would not like knowing that an employee referred a potential buyer to an outside real estate agent thereby losing a possible sale (you didn’t say whether the builder is offering a co-op)

The builders currently listed homes are off limits to you unless those listings expire. But you could schedule an appointment to present him with a fabulous listing presentation and hope he will consider hiring you the next time he completes a home and needs to list it.
