I passed my test on Saturday and started new agent training on Monday. Training is over on Friday and next Monday I am ready to work, but what do I do first. I don't have my MLS yet or even business cards. Everyone says to start prospecting, but where do I start exactly? I need some guidance. I've read books, but nothing says what to do on day one. HELP!!!!

Hopefully, if your new agent training is any good, you'll have more of a clue by Friday. But one of the first things you can do is start a list of your Sphere of Influence (it'll grow, as you remember people that you forgot first time writing them down) with contact info for your announcement letter or however you're going to let people know you're in the business. You could also get started on your website by playing around on the net and seeing what you like and don't like about a bunch of different sites (assuming you don't already know this), and do some research into who you want to use for your own site as far as designing/hosting. Figure out what database you want to use to manage all these contacts you're going to have. See if you can arraneg to shadow another agent in your office for a day. Take a couple of successful, friendly agents in your office to lunch and ask their advice.

And then just jump in. In our office, the other agents are more than happy to be helpful to newbies.

Thank you for your input. i am just feeling like I am not in control right now. I don't really know what I will be doing next week. I can't do much with out business cards and access to the MLS. I can't even train to take calls. And i am paying day care so I need to get moving and jump in with both feet and make some $$$$$. Thank you all.

You can get started without business cards, for a week or two. You DO need MLS access. How long should it be before you have that? You can spend that time prepping (again, hopefully your new agent training will give you a lot of help there).

Oh, and that feeling of not being in control? Get used to it. :p

Thanks, I am going to call my MGR this afternoon on our lunch to get a better clue. My MLS training is not until the Oct 2 or 3. I am just so excited to get moving.

Well congrats to you, If your trainings any good you'll feel great when you come out of it. 2 weeks of 8 hour a day training at Tarbell tought me so much it was ridiculous. Plus i still take one class a week. Just get out there and do your thing! :-D
