Hi all, just stumbled across the site today, and WOW, what great information. To make a long story short, I recently passed the IL realtor exam, signed up with a broker that I met at the DMV, and quickly found out that he didn't have much realtor experience to help me out at all.

Shortly after signing up with the broker, my gull time position transferred me to FL, now I am working my way back to IL, and want to get into Real Estate part time, and am looking for a broker.

Are there any job boards, that would help with this, or should I just start calling RE Brokerages out of the yellow pages?

I am looking to work part time, until I know that I can support a family on real estate ONLY.

Open up the yellow pages and start calling Brokers. Be honest and tell them you will only be working part time.

You are interviewing them - so make sure you really like what you're hearing before signing on with a new company.

You must first come up with a business plan, then finda broker that is a good fit for your plan.

You will also need to be associated with a Florida brokerage and have a Florida License if you plan on doing any real estate business within the State of Florida.

Just an opinion... but if your only going to be in Florida a short time then it would not most likely be worth the effort or expense to do all that is needed just to work part-time or even short term full time. It just is not realistic in this market. If you had a business plan you would probably have noted this yourself... with out a plan... you are just playing not working.

Make sure you know what you want reguarding split, transaction fees, desk/montly fees, if they give free copies, advertising, postage, ect.

Then bring your list into the interview and just go down the list and ask them about each topic. Then you can compare all the important things about all the brokers side by side at home.
