I did a search and found a few threads, but I wanted to hear more people's thoughts. Do you suggest taking an online course or going to an actual real estate school? Ive taken online classes in college and did good with them, so I think that I could handle it. I'm just not sure on the general quality of online courses.

I'd like to hear feedback from anyone that has some to offer, especially those in Missouri.

Thanks!

I took post licensing & broker course online. The post licensing was easy but the broker is rough just because the material is so boring. same with the pre licensing.

I do well with online as well but I'm not sure I would attempt the prelicensing online. When I took my prelicense course, the instructor would tell us what material we were most likely to see on the state exam. Not sure if you get that via online.

If you decide to go online make sure you find one that offers refreshers, crash reviews & maybe some sample tests as well.

I took the online courses because I had a job and a household to run. I was totally burnt out from going to school for my masters.... And I wanted to take the classes at my own pace!!! I did it in 6 sittings (3 Friday-Sunday weekends) and finished 4 classes.

I think you might get a better feel for the industry (interaction/ discussion with other people, teacher during class based on what I know my friends did). But the things you need to know in those classes arent going to teach you survival skills. You learn it when you are on the job.

You might want to consider how your personality is vs. how much/ how soon you want it done. I do have some friends who took it online. Some never finished, some took over a few months to finish.

That's my take on it. Had I do it all over again, I'd still choose the online class. That's how I am doing my continuing education also.

I am currently take the GAMLS online course. So far its very informative, but you have to dedicate yourself or you'll find yourself getting bored , or thinking of anything and everything else you could be doing. I took my appraiser course "In classroom" ,so I'll have a good comparison when I'm finished with this course.

In Ohio, you have to do the pre-licensing in a classroom. The CE can be done online now. I prefer to do everything in classroom, which is getting hard to find CE that way since it went online. Why do I like it better? Contacts. You get to talk with the other agents, find out what they're doing and how they're doing it, and get ideas.

On line is the only way to go. You get to do all the other things you have ever wanted to do but never found the time.

The on line course actually teaches you good time managment. It gets you in the swing of self disipline and working for yourself.

Cheers

There is much to be said for on line in many very real considerations. Having said that I will also say that I have done all mine, both licensing and CE, in the classroom (and expect I always will). Though I spend a lot of time face to face with a computer screen it will never be able to replace the face to face with the instructor or another agent networking, the firm hand shake, the "Can I buy you a coffee after class?", etc.

Wow, so many good points from both sides. Hard to make a decision! I'm leaning towards the online classes though, simply because of time restraints...
