First, know that in most markets, the brokers are happy to hear from you. They want to interview you; in fact, many times, the process is more about you interviewing them.
If you're calling mostly bigger firms, they'll know exactly what to do with you - in other words, all you have to do is call the office and ask to speak with the person who interviews new agents. If you're calling smaller boutique firms, you'll probably speak directly with the managing broker.
Just get on the phone and start calling. Truly, there is absolutely nothing to be worried or anxious about.
