This site is an awesome resource!! I've been reading the posts non-stop and learned so much from many of you. Thank you!!
I just purchased a course of study called "The Works" from California Licensing.com It includes the Principles course, RE Practice and Finance. I hope to pass the exam, bypass the conditional, and go right for the 4 year license. Wish me luck.
If anyone in the Southern California area is interested in forming a study group, let me know. I think that while studying online is convienient, we lose the classroom advantage of being able to share ideas and motivate others with a common goal.
Otherwise, I'll keep you all posted as to my progress, and hopefully someday I'll be able to pass on sound advice to newbies on this site too!!
Thanks -Rob G

My mind is getting pretty fried with just the Principles course.. I think I will have to take the exam first. Thanks for the word of advice.

Hey Rob if you have any questions on studying let me know man! I Know how it is, i barely took min back in June. I also work at the Tarbell Office in Corona. Which brokerage are you going to? Make sure they offer ALOT of post license training. Your principles & state test aren't going to prepare you for actually selling houses. It's just a small bump in the road.

Thanks Jonathan!!
I was thinking going to the Tarbell Career breakfast in Temecula on the 7th, but I'm not sure. Do you know anything about it?
I have a friend that I was thinking would make a great mentor. She works for First Team out of Yorba Linda, but has a few listings in the Corona area.
I've heard good things about both Tarbell and First Team.
How do you like your office?
I'm really up in the air about who to work for. Right now I'm just focused on doing well in the principles course and state exam.
Did you go to a cram session anywhere around us? I heard there is a good one in Ontario somewhere.
Thanks again for the post, and I'll deffinately take you up on your studying offer!!
-Rob

I love Tarbell, honestly they are great people. The career breakfast is whatever. No biggie not to go to that.
I was doing allied schools and Tarbell paid and switched me to Anthony Schools. It was held by the nicest older lady named louis who had been doing real estate for like 35 years. Its right off of Green River in Corona, Once a week. You take your principles test ONLINE open book. Simple as can be if you can use an index.
Now best part is when your done with that head back to tarbell they'll give you a test date and "The Magic CD" as i'd call it. It has 10 variations of the state exam. 150 questions each. As long as you do that thing for like 2 hours a day and or scoring in the 80-90% range on each test you can't fail.
Honestly there were questions on that CD that i found WORD for WORD on the state exam. I was out of my test in 2 hours. Passed. Longest part is waiting for your license to be issued. But while your doing that Tarbell is sending you to a 2 week 8 hour a day Quick start class that teaches you more about real estate then the state exam or the principles class.
Then you still do a 2 hour class once a week on a different subject, to keep your knowledge expanding. Which is key in this business no matter what anyone says. Tarbell's also #1 in home sales in Riverside County which is huge with all its competitors. Im not trying to be a Tarbell promoter but they've treated me and my friends awesome. Have some of the BEST training ive seen. I hate to hear about brokers who have there agents pass the state and just chuck them out there.
Also starting off at a 65/35 comission split is awesome when i compared other brokers and the ability to move it up to a 90/10 split is amazing. They also provide loads of FREE farming/marketing tools, business cards, etc. So even if your short on cash you can get started if you have the motivation. If you have any question on Tarbell or your state exam Rob to PM me and i'll give you my E-mail. Your close enough i could even take you down to the office to meet some people and see for yourself if its for you or not. I love that there a family owned company and not a franchise. Really good people.
What part of Corona are you in? I work at the Eastvale/Corona office. Right off the I-15 & Limonite. Its rather new. The put in a Best Buy & Homedepot right there and everything.

This Google Custom search may do a better job of searching the forums for some keywords than the old forum search does. The results do not include threads from the Asset Managers Forum however. To search that forum you will need to be actually in the Asset Managers Forum and you will need to use the old forum search below.
