I think I punched in hundreds of website domain names for my real estate agent website and all the good ones are taken. I need a website. Any suggestions?

There will be lottsa domain names available. Just use .net or .info instead of .com and if you still can't find what you are looking for then separate the words with dashes - which also has some benefits in search engines as it allows the search engines to "see" the words.

I would try and do a .com if at all possible. You could try to think of a name that could also work for your branding like Tall Pines Real Estate, River Wind Real Estate, Shady Brook Real Estate... then use that on your marketing as well. That will make it easier to find something and help you brand yourself as well.

I would only use .com most searchers only type in .com.Say they have www.bestrealty.com and you register www.bestrealty.info most of the marketing dollars and everything you spend will go to the other persons website, not good.

Yahoo and google i believe on there site somewhere have the most typed in terms for real estate so i would take the words typed in most often for homebuyer and homeseller searches and make up a combo and register it,make sure it's a .com

The URL you register is for advertising only. Go to Yahoo and type in "Chester VA Real Estate" Let me know which number you get the web site www.wellshomesforsale.com It's what you name the page in Hyper-text that the search engines look for. Of course it helps if you pay Yahoo $12.50 a month to host your site. HomeGain called the other day and asked how I would like to be in the top 10 in Yahoo. I said I am Good Bye.

Why don't you tell us a little more about where you're from - you say CA but what city? Who do you work for? What is the city known for (if anything). What is your first name? & maybe we can brainstorm here & help you.

The above quote leaves the false impression that web searchers type in terms in the browser address bar - and you say Yahoo and Google have a list of these terms - and for this reason it is important to have a .com domain name.

I think what you are referring to is Yahoo's Keyword research tool which can be found at http://inventory.overture.com/d/searchinventory/suggestion/

The list is for keywords typed in search engines - not typed into browsers.

Searchers by and large do not type terms in the address bar - they type them in search engines - there is no real need to have a .com domain name. Others will work just fine - and in most cases will work better because better names are available.

Needle-

If you go to GoDaddy.com and enter possible domain names, even if the one you enter is not available, they give you suggestions for other domain names. Even if you don't like their suggestions, it may get your creative juices flowing and you may come up with something else.

Using your city or a word related to your area can help with branding - just add a word or two. Sometimes just adding an "s" to a word gives you an open domain name. A lot of agents use their name as their domain, too.

Keep playing around with different combinations and you will surely come up with a good domain name.

Hope this helps,

Betty

ForLandSakes.com was already taken by a surveyng company. I was so dissapointed.

I went to networkSolutions.com and punched in a lot and got about 11 possibles. sometimes when I dont have much time, Ill just type desired names in my browser and when they come up no such site, I check the net solution site and find that about 60 percent arent taken by anybody.

How about www.likeaneedleinahaystack.com? Sometimes that's what finding a house feels like to people. It's available.

Don't be afraid of using hyphens. www.my-web.com
This can get you around a lot of problems with unavailable names.
