I see no point in getting your real estate license if you just want to specialize in those fields.
Unless you want to list and sell homes, don't bother with the license.

getting paid for the referrals will require a license unless you can somehow call them a lead fee. Otherwise I don't see any problem with developing apps for use by brokers or agents. realtor.com, homepage.com, and IDX sites are nothing more than apps that make use of mls data.

Ok... you and I should talk cuz I am wrestling with this right now.
I want to integrate an MLS search into my Joomla CMS website.
What you would do is provide the service... the MLS access script. You will have to work out the details with each MLS board (Start with REInfolink in northern california - just because I need it!)
I can also send you all the documents I have found from REInfolink that talk about IDX, etc.
What I am looking for is a VOW solution that does more than just let folks search for MLS listings.
Feel free to give me a call if you want to discuss it. 408-852-0525. It is a california phone but it rings where I am in London, England. So just remember that I am 8 hours ahead of pacific time.

Hey Guys, I too do websites. I'm getting my license now because I want to move into that field and also convert my web development biz into specializing in real estate websites. You wont need a license to do what you're talking about Bnewt, but it'll always be good to read up so you're content readu. Each MLS has their own api or method of raw streaming. I'm in GA and they wont give me raw streams w/o a broker reciprocity agreement. So, it kind of sucks because I would need to have a contract with a company first before I could develop an ap. I use joomla too Robert...and am working on a way to integrate raw mls into some of the components. There's a great component/module called mosets hot property but i dont think you can integrate mls. you can only add your own properties. I'd love a way to get raw mls in joomla rather than using a separate ap like listingware. i want to keep logins fully integrated.

This Google Custom search may do a better job of searching the forums for some keywords than the old forum search does. The results do not include threads from the Asset Managers Forum however. To search that forum you will need to be actually in the Asset Managers Forum and you will need to use the old forum search below.
