Ok here is an odd question....

I live in a small town that is saturated with agents but its a good place to learn before jumping into the big city. I realized in my search that I have an opportunity to do some big business if I move between my town and the big city. It would pit me half an hour between the two and give me access to four towns and one city.

Now the problem is all the agencies in my Town advertise for Lake and Mendocino County while the agencies in the City advertise for Sonoma and Napa counties.

My question is can I have 2 brokers, one in my town and one in the city, or can I run listing through one Broker even though he doesn't advertise for that county????

two brokers? No.

The four counties you mentioned share the same MLS. Any broker or agent (unless the broker puts restrictions on agent ads) can advertise in any of those counties (and beyond for that matter). If a particular broker doesn't advertise in all counties and cities covered by their MLS it's by choice. All advertising is voluntary. And if your broker doesn't advertise it's brokerage or listings somewhere, it doesn't necessarily mean you personally can't. Talk with your broker.

Im looking at taking the courses this summer and going for the test in October then finding a broker and setting up shop in 2008. Ive been researching for about a month now and everyone has been helpful.....Thank you.

I went to the website and they had the banners that said "Serving this county and this county for X amount of years" So I wasnt sure how that worked. Im trying to get access to as many cities as I possibly can.....Im going to aim high lol.

In New York you can have two licenses with the informed consent of each of them (I've done it).

Also in New York you can have your own Broker license as well as a license (either salesperson or associate broker) with a sponsoring broker; I've done that too.

A word of caution though, be open with any sponsoring broker about what you are doing on licenses and have a good understanding where agency loyalty and your own business are divided.
