Hi all... new here! I have just passed my PSI exam and am currently submitting my application to our local Realtors division. The question I need help with is picking the right Broker. Heres my situation though.....

At this time I am currently not looking to jump into a Real Estate career Full Time. I have a good job as a Construction Superintendant for a underground Utilities company here in Vegas and the reason why I wanted my Real Estate license was for mine and my families personal gain. We are going to be purchaing a house at the beginning of the year and I wanted full control of negotiating the purchase and just having more knowledge altogether! I am also looking mostly to get into investing in Real Estate propertys as well. So basically with my license I dont really want to jump in full time and try and generate my business with new clients, rather my license is for myself and investing in more properties. Not to mention I would help out my personal friends and family if they were to purchase or sell.

So..... I know this was long, but I wanted to explain that portion on what I was looking to do. So now my question is this..... I have to choose a broker to hang my license with. I do think I need training, especially on writing contracts and such.... so my question is what should I really be looking for in what a broker can offer me, considering that I only want to practice Real Estae part time and only really for persoanl gain (investing)? Do I need a mentor? Will a Broker want to take me on if I just want to go at it for myself and really part time? Does this makes sense, lol?

All opinions and help is VERY much appreciated!! I am stuck on what to do.... thank you in advance and again I hope I made sense in what I typed!

Thanks for the links.... so considering my situation, will finding a broker be very hard because I wont be going full time into this career?!?! I read that some brokers wont want to take a new agent on if they want to only work part time...... again I am not neccesarily trying to build clients, leads and my business, rather I am looking to use my license for personal use only, BUT at the sametime I want to be trained and learn this business. Again, hope that makes sense, Thanks again....

I sent you an email.

Congrats on passing the exam!

Most brokers do want to hire on agents that will do the most production of course. But if you are motivated and willing to take the hit on commission splits, then a larger company will offer you the best training and support. I believe that training and support are the most important aspects of choosing a brokerage. It also looks good if you get recommended by another agent in the company.

All said and done, I would stay away from those discount companies with higher commission splits. Being a new agent, you will need to best training and support you can get. There is much more to learn in this business than the schooling and the test provides for you.

Good luck with your search.
