I'm considering my own business. What do you sugest...LLC, sol proprietor, DBA ? I don't know where to start with this.

Would E & O insurance be all that's necessary? What about liability? My husband, with all the faith of a cat is concerned about somone suing us and we lose the house we live in.

You definately want some form of Corp. Exactly which one depends on your state and financial situation. Consult your accountant.

If you have multiple officers in the corp you are sometimes better protected.You want seperate business acounts of everything.No buying out of your personal account and getting reimbursed,this will be commingling and possibly pierce the corporate veil.

If you are the sole officer then sometimes they can still come after you as you were the only officer you can still be found negligeble.

I would stack alot of your money into ira's and retirement funds that can't be attacked by a lwasuit.certain things are protected you need to speak with a financial planner and have an assett protection plan in place.

For investment properties you might want to have individual llc's so lawsuits are only attatched to that one property where the cliam happened.

These are just a few things i am throwing out there.
