My buyer wants owner to stay on if possible to run it while my buyer works on some special projects at the shop. He wants to phase his product into the company's existing product line. I'm finding FORMER machine shops, but no EXISTING, profitable ones on the market. I don't start looking seriously until week after next, after my SAE annual exam. Buyer is fine with that. I'm looking for him because of my experience working in machine shops--familiar with what is needed to have a smooth running operation. The books tell part of the story, and the shop tells the other part.
So, just wondered if anyone had a source where existing businesses are primarily advertised. I'm got HAR's site, Craigslist, newspapers, commercial broker sites, and have googled to try and find any posts by sellers, etc. After my annual test, I'm going door to door in some of the primary industrial areas around the ship channel area. Some of these shop owners know what is going on with other shops.
Thanks for your help.

Darlene B, What you may need to do for this one is contact a local Business Broker in your area and partner with him on it and have him pay you a referral because the business in question may just lease the real estate. This Google Custom search may do a better job of searching the forums for some keywords than the old forum search does. The results do not include threads from the Asset Managers Forum however. To search that forum you will need to be actually in the Asset Managers Forum and you will need to use the old forum search below.
