I am completely sickened by it. There really is no such thing as a Code Of Ethics, it is just a vial they use to collect money and deceive the general public.
Is the NAR responsible for the lack of ethics of some realtors, or are the realtors themselves responsible? In the big picture of real estate expenses, the amounts of money I send to the NAR and OAR are very small.

Reply to: Realtors or NAR responsible.

In an imperfect world, no one organization can be all encompassing.

My experience with various realtors gives me a general opinion that most try to appear professional on the surface, but when you dig a little, you may uncover some dirty laundry.

I have a story to tell of one realtor I worked for.

The general manager kept telling me to come into the office any time, day or night, to work listings.

Well, one time I came in late at night and heard some strange sounds, and then she appeared and said, "You didn't see or hear anything, right?"

So, you are looking for a code of ethics in a world where all our institutions are crumbling from within, little by little, day after day.

Why real estate holds up in the face of corruption amazes me to no end.

I personally try to do what's right for all I meet and get to know. You don't need institutions teaching you this. Should be instinctive.

Good luck and good day!

Get a lawyer from a neighboring city. Keep out of their pockets. You aren't required to get a lawyer in the same town- or even county.

I have met a few other real estate agents lately, and they are very honest and honorable. One of them even works for the big realtor in my case. So they do exist.

What Canary says is so true. I wonder what happened to ethics.

At first I assumed that my dishonest agent didn't actually know about the mold (until he later smelled it on the back porch); he just didn't want to wait the average 3 weeks to get an appointment with a certified inspector....so he fudged the truth, implying that his buddy was going to inspect for mold.

But what about the whole bogus inspection by his buddy? Is it possible that the so-called inspector was on drugs, hung over, or perhaps even retarded??

Thank you very much for the good words.

I had to come back and reply to this thread, after my hearing with the local NAR chapter's "Ethics" hearing.

I complained that the agent intentionally neglected to tell me of the certification requirements for a mold inspection. This is entirely true. He then recommended his own , uncertified inspector, who did not inspect for anything at all. (I know....Sucker!)

They found him innocent of knowing about the mold. (I didn't think he did know about the mold)

Here's the story. Am I the only one who is ..is.......ummm..... (I just can't think of the correct adjective....) Speechless.

This is a 25 year old trailer on a rented lot that is worth approximatly worth well....nothing.

The only reason for this update was for hits to that blog.

No I am not the agent just one who has followed this tale and seen the MANY MANY versions of the tale unfold.

Honestly on one forum she likened this to a "sexual prowess"
