REO property that goes through a bid period and all offers are submitted to the Listing Agent (Broker). Listing agent (Broker) writes offer on his /her own listing?

You can make an offer as long as you disclose it - and as long as the reo company doesn't say you can't (read their manual.) In some cases, you may be forfeiting your commission also.

I wouldn't make an offer if I was representing a potential buyer of one of these properties.

Disclose, disclose, disclose!

Most companies do not allow you, the listing agent, to buy your own listing. The ones that do allow it will not allow you to receive a commission. In addition to probably not allowed, it would also be unethical. Just say, for example, you received five bids on this property. What are you going to bid? I can see some serious trouble if you are representing any of these buyers and you are trying to purchase the same property.

Let me give a better example: Say you are the Listing (Agent) Broker of a VA REO. All bids are given to you during the ten day bid period. You see all the other bids because you are the Listing (Agent) Broker. A Buyer comes to you wanting you to write an offer on the property for them. The questions then is: Do you write the offer for them? Do you think it is unethical or ethical to write the offer? Keep in mind you have seen all the other offers and none of them have been submitted because the ten day bid period is not over.

Ok, maybe a little. Please forgive me? But you know, I used to sell about 30% of all of my listings and really enjoyed it and so did the buyers and sellers.
