IslandBreeze, take a look at the link below Pg.#4 and tell me we don't try to weed out the bad agents. Almost 1/2 of those got their license pulled. If you you are one of the good ones, stick with it and make a difference, we need the good ones. http://www.dora.state.co.us/real-estate/news/news181/News181Revised.pdf

My only gripe with the NAR is that their commercials can lead people into terrible danger. These commercials imply that all "Realtors" are honest as the day is long.
All you have to do is look for a real "Realtor" and you're all set.
But the "Realtor" who was the head of my phony "Ethics" Committee has such a sleazy reputation that none of the honest agents in town will even have anything to do with her.
Of course it's impossible to plice eery "realtor" all over the country, but the NAR press implies that they can./
Very dangerous, and very false advertising.
Other than that, I do know some very honest "Realtors". I hope they don't get burned by their dishonest colleagues, because you're known by the company you keep.

NAR commercials are dangerous? Do you have any clue what the NAR has done for homeownership? I think of a hell of a lot more dangeous commercials than NAR. Vonage, or whatever that phone company is comes to mind.

(LOL - Gee, I like my Vonage. I get unlimited free long distance everywhere in the US and Canada, free caller ID and free voicemail for $27 a month with the tax, and I can check my messages, or even monitor all my in and outbound calls online. Of course, I'm at tech, so if there's a problem, I can troubleshoot it myself... Be careful - the adapters tend to overheat very easily, and you lose signal)
It's absurd to believe that any org can police all its members everywhere. But alas, the NAR commercials give no disclaimers, and gullible little old ladies all over the country WILL believe it.
But hopefully, at least in areas where the crooks don't own the world, the good, honest "Realtors" will try to police their own.
Paul --- (1916 posts in 2 years??! Wow. You must be retired.) I'm 60 years old and have lost so much money that I'm now working 2 service jobs. This gives me enough money to pay the rent and expenses. I spend all my time washing uniforms, packing lunches, and juggling schedules. I don't actually have a life...

Hopefully, your ethics committees didn't forward all the accuser's mail to the accused.
That pretty much takes the cake.

Oh well - LOL. I'm usually a pretty soft spoken Christian, but you should have heard me when I learned what those women on the Board of Realtors did to me. And I would have loved to have been inside their heads at that "Ethics" hearing, when the accused realtor unexpectadly "Outed" them - on tape - for all posterity.
The N.A.R. has some very nice, honest (and very sweet) young people in their midst. But it is rapidly becoming notorious for its power. It owns many political candidates - conceivably even some in Maine...?
Was it just ignorance that made my "Ethics" committee behave so brazenly and arrogantly dishonest? Or was it something else??
It's truly hard to imagine that anyone that dumb could pass the realtor's exam. (Edited to change the word "Stupid" to "Dumb" I think dishonesty in all forms is truly dumb. )

This Google Custom search may do a better job of searching the forums for some keywords than the old forum search does. The results do not include threads from the Asset Managers Forum however. To search that forum you will need to be actually in the Asset Managers Forum and you will need to use the old forum search below.
