Do all of you have to submit your fingerprints through the state and FBI when renewing your license?
We do, I guess the old prints wore off?
We are told it's a new Homeland Security issue.

I don't. I renew online.

I should change that to say, I haven't had to yet.

I didn't have to for my RE license, but I did have to submit fingerprints for my mortgage lending license.

I had to submit fingerprints before I could activate my license. When I renewed I did not have to.

Me and my wife just passed our RE test and had to go in for a live scan finger print session. I just thought it was because we were new.

Ok, now this one is new to me. As a former investigator, I do not see the correlation between isues of National Security, Homeland Defense or terrorist activity and real estate sales. Is it just me??

It's a state bill. This is what it says:
With the passage of Senate Bill 13, a real estate agent or broker applying for renewal of a license must submit a set of fingerprints to the Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for the purpose of conducting a state and national fingerprint-based criminal history record check.
Upon completion of the criminal history record check, the bureau shall forward the results to the Colorado Real Estate Commission. It takes approximately TWO (2) weeks for processing at CBI and approximately EIGHT (8) weeks processing at the FBI. Expect a minimum of TWELVE (12) weeks for turnaround time for the fingerprinting process to be completed and that requirement fulfilled for license renewal.

Many careers and or employers require finger printing/criminal background checks. Real Estate is just catching up.
Food for thought- We always think about our safety when meeting buyers and sellers away from our offices, wondering if we are walking into an unsafe situation. Don't you think they wonder the same about us?
It's a good thing.

But I gave them my fingerprints 15 years ago when I got my license, like I said, the ink probably wore off.
