We do that and while it does help them remember us, it does not bring immediate results.

This is such a great topic, and i'm using all your comments as therapy lol.
I really don't like the idea of doing this. I sold avon as a little girl and canvassed my neighborhood, nobody wanted to buy anything from me, I didn't like doing it then and i dont like the idea of doing it now.
However, I can overcome these ideas that make me uncomfortable it's just getting to that point that im having a tough time with. I would like to start in feb when lots of people are deciding to sell. I just need to grow a pair of balls before hand. keep em coming.

ps: i really like the big why thing. I also have napolean hill's audio cd i listen to in my truck, 'selling yourself' and he tells me everything i already know i'm just having a hard time budging.

Are immediate results what everyone is looking for here? It's my uinderstanding that we need to build a solid base. and go from there. I'm not very outgoing, but I plan on using door knocking as a way to 1) push me into fac 2 face meetings with people in my farm 2) get some doors slammed in my face to see how tough my skin is.

He talks about follow up and setting appointments. He says not to go in the home but set a appt. if the person wants more information.

I have listened to Mike Ferry (very good) but this series is the best I have heard on the subject.

IMHO what harm would it do to knock a hour a day? The worse thing that can happen is everyone says no but the best is they can say "we like you, lets proceed "

I have given it much thought and no one has knocked on my door in 10 years so I am going to try is on the next nice day.

I would reccomend if you want to door know to listen to the cds yourself. I wish I could explain how great they are but I can not fill you in 100%.

Thanks for the info. Im curious, how often does he suggest knocking on the same doors? Do you knock the same doors once a week, once every two weeks? Once a month? Appreciate the rundown.

I too have tried this and found it very difficult. Even still, the 1 and only time I tried it, I got a $2M listing.

You'd think I'd be out there again! But, no....

This tells you just how hard it is for me.

If I could psyche myself into believing that I'm Honestly Doing Them a Tremendous Favour when I interrupt their evening, make some small talk, find out what's going on in the neighborhood and leave 'something of value,' then I could get past it.

I know some people will be jerks - but some will be thrilled to have a chance to get to know me.

Bottom line - its prospecting which involves a certain amount of rejection.

I really should go out there and do it again. I could use a $2M listing right now....

Nasby says 2-3 times a year and at dinner time 5-7 he said his results were much better at that time. Im going from 3-5 to start but at this moment I have more business than I can handle so I need to clean things up a little. Next decent day and im there.

I hated the idea of knocking on someone's door, until I did it two days ago for the first time. The rewards were well worth my time. I knocked on 3 (all FSBO's) doors, the first couple took 15 minutes with me and I am to call them back tomorrow, the second person has a contract but asked me to preview her house (a 45 min tour) and I am to call on friday to follow up, on her request, and the third guy was extremely rude until I offered my "free" packet at which we ended up talking for 10 mins but gave me permission to call him back tomorrow to get a "survey" about the free packet I gave him. Now I look for and can't wait for the chance to go "knocking"
