You can make it, but relationships are what the business is about. You just need to get out there, network, wear your namebadge, hand out personal brochures or business cards, go to networking events, join groups, go to HOA meetings, etc.
The main part about having contacts is actually keeping in touch with them. I do notecards, phone calls, emails, client follow-up programs and newletters. I really like personal referrals because the lead is usually already pretty motivated to go with you and they are probably a better match for me.
